Prayer for Quiet Trust

February 18, 2025 by Ezers

As we have been talking about forming a personal *Rule of Life in recent weeks, we would also like to share with you an important “Rule” or rhythm of prayer we practice before all of our meetings, and gatherings. These 6 prayers include: humility, wisdom, indifference to all but God’s will,trustworthy/faithful stewardship, peace bringing, and quiet trust. Our writers will focus on one prayer per week and will share how each one has influenced their prayer life and/or the life of teams they have served with over the years.

Listen:

“Trust in Him at all times, you people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. Selah” (Psalms 62:8, NKJV)

Reflect:

Trust in God at all times and in every moment. What does this mean for me as God’s handmaiden, passionate about leaving an impact of eternal significance? It means I must lean on, rely on and have absolute confidence in God’s power to help me accomplish all He has called me to do.

My list of uncompleted tasks and projects is long. The demands on my time, attention and resources are head-spinning. The list of things my heart desires to do to make a difference is longer than my arms’ combined length. I tend to run from pillar to post, trying to do a hundred and one things simultaneously—pulled in multiple directions.

But the Psalmist cautions and calls me to that place of QUIET trust. Quiet? With all the noise around and within me of things screaming for my attention and those trying to distract me? Yes, quiet.

The call is to step into that place of quietness so I can be alone with God—where I can pour my heart out to Him and tell Him all my troubles and desires. In that place, I hear Him whisper into my spirit, “In quiet and confident trust is your strength.”

I remember how God raised help for me to complete my LSM project in 2015. I wanted to raise funds to bring a turnaround for good for two physically challenged women. Last week, we completed a project to transform the lives of 27 female amputees only with God’s help. I know I can do nothing without God!

I am still learning what it means to have quiet trust in God. But I know I cannot have a God-glorifying impact without trusting God and becoming completely dependent on Him.

Prayer of Response:

Lord, I am willing to step away from the noise of all that is demanding and distracting my attention and step into that place of quiet and confident trust in You. I will return, rest and depend on You. Help me to be still in Your presence so I can hear Your instructions.

Questions to Ponder:

  1. What are you trying to do in your own strength in your bid to impact lives for good?
  2. Where do you need to pull the plug and retreat into the place of quietness and rest in absolute trust and confidence in God?

Breath Prayer:

As a new weekly rhythm, join us in praying breath prayers each day. We invite you to write your own as well.

Inhale:  Lord, I trust and depend on You
Exhale: In quiet and confident trust is my strength.
