For the 40 days of Lent, our writers will be sharing testimonies based on the scripture Mark 14:6-9: She offered what was in her hands and heart to give. 6-9 But Jesus said, “Let her alone. Why are you giving her a hard time? She has just done something wonderfully significant for me. You will have the poor with you every day for the rest of your lives. Whenever you feel like it, you can do something for them. Not so with me. She did what she could when she could—she pre-anointed my body for burial. And you can be sure that wherever in the whole world the Message is preached, what she just did is going to be talked about admiringly.”
In this Lenten season, may we be reminded of all that Jesus gave for us because we are His beloved.
Listen:
“…that you will spare the lives of my father and mother, my brothers and sisters, and all who belong to them—and that you will save us from death.” (Joshua 2:13 NIV)
Reflect:
Rahab’s story in the Bible is one of courage and faith. Her request to the spies in Jericho inspired me deeply. She showed that one person’s righteousness, faith, and prayer can bring salvation to an entire family. As the first Christian in my family, this is also my prayer—that each member of my family may be saved and come to know God.
I thank God for blessing me with such wonderful people in my life. My family and faithful community are His gifts to me. One of my cherished communities is an online Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) group with my Mongolian sisters. Every Saturday, we’ve been studying Revelation together for months. On March 8th, International Women’s Day, we organized a Gospel event, inviting mothers and sisters. Although I’m not in Mongolia, my leader encouraged me to invite my mom and sisters. I began praying for my mom, my aunt, and my two sisters.
At first, my sisters were not sure, but we kept praying. The day before the event, my mom, aunt, and sisters accepted my invitation. It was a kairos moment. Following the event, my aunt accepted Jesus as her Savior. Praise God!
Reading the book of Joshua, Rahab’s story gave me hope. Her faith saved her family, and I now believe my prayers and faith can do the same. God is always at work, and I trust He will save my whole family in His time.
Prayer of Response:
Heavenly Father, Thank You for Your blessings and love. Just as Rahab’s faith saved her family, I pray for our loved ones to know You and accept Your salvation. Thank You for the kairos moments You’ve created for us. We trust in Your perfect timing and ask for strength to remain steadfast in prayer and faith. Amen.
Questions to Ponder:
- How can your faith and prayers positively impact your loved ones and encourage them to seek a relationship with God?
- How do I recognize and embrace Kairos time, even when they seem unexpected or uncertain?
Breath prayers:
Inhale (Breathe in): God you are always at work
Exhale (Breathe out): help us to trust in Your perfect timing
