Listen:
“Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place” (Ephesians 6:14)
“Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'” ( John 14:6)
Reflect:
Truth Has No Shades or Versions
Truth is absolute. Truth has no shades or versions. Truth is only true if it is God’s truth. I cannot have my truth while you have your truth. If what we claim to be the truth is not God’s truth, then it is lies in disguise. The foundation of truth is not only precious but essential in every sphere of our lives in the world we live in today where lies are openly celebrated.
Listen to the TV or take a trip on the social media, you will find the fake making news. My son showed me what photoshop can do to doctor images and create false impressions. I was aghast. Unfortunately, even in the church and among Christians, truth is watered down and falsehood accommodated for a bowl of porridge.
Without the foundation of truth for our relationships there can be no trust. And without trust our relationships will be fickle and easily blown away like dry leaves in the wind. Without the foundation of truth, fear will prevail, and the enemy of our soul will triumph. He is after all the father of lies.If we want to stand triumphant and victorious in this battle for our soul, holding fast to God’s undiluted truth is not optional. We need the belt of truth firmly fastened around our waists to keep us standing protected and upright in triumph on the solid foundation that cannot be shaken.
Jesus’ truth is the only truth. Because He is the truth. There are no other versions to His truth.
Prayer of Response:
“Heavenly Father, thank You for Your truth which remains absolute and unadulterated no matter how hard the world around me tries to break it into many shades. Give me a spirit of discernment to know lies wrapped up with thin layer of truth. Give me the courage to stand up for Your truth no matter how fierce the opposition may be and what may be at risk. Give me the boldness to speak out again lies everywhere it is promoted. Give me the grace to proclaim Your truth without fear. Grant me an ever-increasing knowledge of Your truth so that I can walk in truth and in the freedom, Jesus died to purchase for me on the Cross at Calvary. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.”
