Listen:
‘It is good to give thanks to the Lord, to sing praises to your name, O Most High to declare your steadfast love in the morning, and your faithfulness by night, to the music of the lute and the harp, to the melody of the lyre.” (Psalms 92:1-2)
Reflect:
As I reflected on Psalm 92:1-2, I could not stop at verse 2, so the conversation continues…
‘It is good to give thanks to the Lord, to sing praises to your name,
O Most High to declare your steadfast love in the morning,
and your faithfulness by night, to the music of the lute and the harp,
to the melody of the lyre.”
Why Lord?
‘Because of the work of my hands, because I have made you glad!’
How Lord can I give thanks?
‘Sing with a joyful heart! Dance with delight! Worship with wonder.’
But Lord I am weary. Life on this earth can be so hard and disappointing, and my ‘do’ list is endless.
‘My works are great and my thoughts deep. I am on high forever!
I have exalted your horn and poured over you fresh oil.
You are victorious with my strength!’
Yet, those who laugh at you seem to thrive. They have wealth, good health, and popularity!
‘Even though the wicked seem to flourish,
My enemies will perish and evildoers will be scattered
because they have mocked me and turned away from me.
I am the LORD and there is no other.’
So…it is all worth it to remain steadfastly loyal to you Lord?
‘Those who remain righteous will flourish like a palm tree
and grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
They are planted in my house and will flourish
in my courts.’
Lord my hands are weak and my voice frail! How can I sing and praise you?
‘In old age you will still produce fruit and
will always be green and full of sap.
Trust me!
Then all will know that I am upright.
I will be your rock and there is no unrighteousness in me.’
It is good to give thanks to the Lord and sing praises to His name O Most High!
O Lord our God, how majestic is your name over all the earth!
(From Psalms 92, 72, 8 )
Prayer of Response:
Lord may I never forget your steadfast love and faithfulness, and may praises and thanksgiving always be on my lips.
Questions or Reflection:
What is your first ‘go to’ when life isn’t going the way you expected?
How are you able to intentionally direct your thoughts and mind to praise and thanksgiving to our God Most High?
Following are two songs of worship. I hope today you are able to listen and worship our God Most High. ( Please forgive any ads that may come up! )
