Listen:
“And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him”. (Hebrews 6:11)
Reflect:
The element of pleasing God is embedded in walking with Him in faith. In the example of Enoch, he is purported to have had faith and one cannot walk with God unless he believes in Him. Enoch’s life shows that there must have been in him an underlying faith.
Romans 3:23-24; states “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus”.
The step of accepting Jesus signifies that we believe in what He represents now and in the future. When we depend on God and answers are not coming as expected, it is an occasion to exercise faith, and in such circumstances of delay, that diligent seeking God will find its reward.
We are reminded of Jesus’ lessons on persistence in seeking God, Luke 11:8-9, tenacity pays, and when we seek, we find, and faith helps us to get there. There is expectation that our God will give us what we need, but, seeking and waiting is part of the process.
Bringing it home! as we seek God, walk closely with him, we get to perceive His greatness, faithfulness, and desire to meet our needs. And since He, only knows the timing and the magnitude of our seeking and the nature of reward, consistence is an expression of faith.
Questions to Ponder:
- When you think about God’s greatness and that nothing is impossible with him how do you perceive your role in making this happen?
- Can you remember an instance in your life when you persistently sought God and you got your reward?
- What would you ask God to enhance in your walk with Him to increase your dependence in Him and continue to please him in a deeper sense?
Prayer of Response:
Dear heavenly father, would you teach us how to deepen our faith in you so we can please you in our walk with you. Thanks for your servants whom you justified in faith such as Abraham and David, whom you categorized as walking close with you. For Abraham, you found him faithful and David, a man after your own heart. Remember us and fill us again with the desire to walk with you. In Jesus name. Amen
