Listen:
“Then you will not be afraid of sudden panic or of the storm that strikes the wicked, for the Lord will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being caught.” (Proverbs 3:25-26)
Reflect:
King David is one of my inspirations, a true example for us in the Bible. His songs and prayers always reach my heart straight away. The more I read about him, the more I understand why God saw him as a righteous man, chosen for the purity of his heart. His confidence was always in God, as shown in his praise: “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty” (Psalm 91:1).
King Solomon, David’s son and spiritual heir — the wisest king of all time — said, “The Lord will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being caught,” as God promised. When He promises, He fulfills. His Word is alive and active, forever and ever. I trust His Word, and He has become my confidence.
In life, we face many difficult situations meant to strengthen our faith and confidence in God. Sudden troubles or wicked plans cannot defeat us, because God is with us. He is Immanuel.
I want to encourage you all: let us be like King David and King Solomon. “Though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again, but the wicked stumble when calamity strikes” (Proverbs 24:16). We are never defeated — we are the daughters of our victorious God.
Prayer of Response:
Dear Father, Son of God, our Lord Jesus, and Holy Spirit, hallowed be Your name. Throughout our days, strengthen us and may our confidence, faith and love be in You alone. All glory to God, in Jesus Name. Amen!
Questions to Ponder:
- How can we build up our confidence like David who trusts God completely even in times of failure or fear?
- What does it mean for you personally to place my confidence in God rather than in yourself?
Breath Prayers:
Join us in praying breath prayers each day. We invite you to write your own as well.
Inhale (Breathe in): Oh Lord,
Exhale (Breathe out): Be my confidence today.
Inhale (Breathe in): I trust You Lord,
Exhale (Breathe out): Help me to not be afraid.
