Listen:
I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds. I will be glad and rejoice in you; I will sing the praises of your name, O Most High. (Psalm 9:1-2)
Reflect:
God is Lord and Most High, worthy of all praises to his Name. God does wonderful deeds!
I can and will choose to do this – to tell (others) of what God does, and the actions are wonderful deeds.
I will be glad, give thanksgiving out loud and rejoice out loud.
I will choose to sing (loudly, even if off-key) to God and to praise God’s name.
My niece, who is not a believer, but is very spiritual was recently visiting us. I had been meditating on these verses and I found myself challenged to speak of God in marvelous ways, to see God working in and among us, even as my niece experienced life together in a mini-Christian community. You can pray for her as she has returned home.
My Swiss German Buddhist colleague and I have been discussing how God works in and through us at our university where we are both teaching. I continue to look for ways to discuss how our Good God works marvelous deeds, even in and through the established churches in Switzerland. You can pray for this.
I am chair of the PSC at IPC right now. Our church pastor search continues to be a lot of work for me, but God is working in and among us on the committee so that we continue to be unanimous in the decision making. This is truly miraculous! Also, last night at the worship service I was able to give thanks to God and I rejoiced in front of our congregation because of what God is doing in and among us in the search. God does good and marvelous deeds! You can pray for us, here.
Prayer of Response:
Thank you, dear Father, Son and Spirit, that you are doing wonderous works of salvation and redemption in and around us, using us for your good will. We pray for our friends and family that they can grow closer to you and if they are far away, bring them near. We also thank you for the opportunity to share of your marvelous deeds to all our Christian family, too.
Questions to Ponder:
Where and with whom do I want to be sharing all the wonderous deeds of God?
Where is my heart and what do I need to tell God about its state?
What else do I need to tell God that I want or need, right now?
What marvelous deeds is God doing in your life now?
What has God recently done that you can praise him for?
